We offer a wide range of asphalt services including paving, resurfacing, patching, sealcoating, and striping.

The time it takes to complete an asphalt project depends on the scope of the project and weather conditions. We provide an estimated timeline during our initial consultation.

A high-quality paving project includes several steps:

  1. Site Survey: The contractor inspects the area for drainage, soil stability, and any structural concerns.
  2. Grading and Excavation: Ensures proper drainage and a solid base for the asphalt.
  3. Base Layer Installation: The foundation is built using compacted aggregate. A properly compacted base is critical for durability.
  4. Asphalt Installation: Layers of asphalt are laid and compacted with specialized equipment.
  5. Finishing Touches: Edges are stabilized, and the surface is smoothed for a clean look.
  6. Sealcoating (Optional): Provides protection from UV rays, water, and oil damage while improving the appearance.

Curing times can vary, but here are some general guidelines:

  • Initial Use: Most driveways can handle light foot traffic within 24 hours and vehicle traffic after 48-72 hours.
  • Full Curing: Asphalt can take up to 6-12 months to fully cure. During this time, avoid heavy vehicles or sharp turns that could damage the surface.
  • Sealcoating: Wait at least 30 days after paving before applying a sealcoat to allow the asphalt to fully cure.

Pro Tip: Discuss phased paving with your contractor for large or commercial projects to maintain access during construction.

Asphalt paving typically lasts 15-20 years, but several factors can impact its lifespan:

  • Base Quality: A poorly compacted base will lead to cracks and uneven settling.
  • Traffic Load: Heavy vehicles or frequent traffic can cause wear over time.
  • Climate: Freeze-thaw cycles and prolonged exposure to UV rays can weaken asphalt.
  • Maintenance: Regular care, like sealcoating and crack filling, helps asphalt last longer.

Signs it’s time to repave include:

  • Large Cracks: Cracks wider than ¼ inch indicate structural issues.
  • Potholes: Potholes compromise safety and structural integrity.
  • Fading Color: Gray or faded asphalt is a sign of oxidation and wear.
  • Drainage Problems: Persistent pooling water suggests a grading issue.
